Like whoa.

Last week after my gig in Paris I traveled across the water to Scotland & Ireland, eventually for a weekend show in the town of Sligo, Ireland. This was my second time over there, and a redhead named Paul Murphy fits in pretty well in those parts. Read on for some pictures, AN ANIMATED .GIF, and tales of my travels.

First stop: Scotland. In my downtime between gigs I stopped in to visit my friend John Farrugia who is getting his doctorate in Sculpture at the Edinburgh School of Art & is also the leader of the Big Toes Hi-Fi, who had me come and play a set last year in Edinburgh. John builds soundsystems and has one in Edinburgh and one in Ontario. It’s a real treat to play on them.

For one of his projects, John was pouring red hot aluminum into a sand impression of an electric guitar, so he called upon me to go out and buy as many dollar bin shred-fest rock albums as I could with 10 quid and then play a set while the metal was poured. Fine, send me to record shops. The picture at the top of this post is of one of the shops whose owner had too many wares. Note to record shops, keep a dollar bin handy. After scoring a few classics (triumph, Kiss, Van Halen, etc), I rocked a set back at the ‘foundry’. Here’s a .gif animation I made of the pour. YEAH I SAID IT: .gif animation.

Ireland is an amazing land of hops, barley, merrymen & women; quite a treat to visit. It was my second time there and I’m starting to get used to the place. I had an AMAZING time playing for an enthusiastic crowd in Sligo, complete with some new tricks treats that I’m developing. Always a good time to try out some new stuff and have it go over well. Irish pubs are a unique social experience that I would recommend taking in sometime in your life. I watched a game of “Gaelic Rules Football”, which was an awesome sport that combines soccer, basketball and rugby. I wish I played growing up. I’m too delicate now; these fingers gotta pay the bills. Unfortunately, it’s hard to take pictures of myself ‘paying the bills’ and scratching and such, so I’ve yet to get much action for performance and show pics, but I’m hoping some will roll through later from the first 2 shows. Touristic Ireland pics below in the slideshow.

Right now, I’m in Belgium for a few days off, hanging with my friend Tom de Geeter from Marathon of Dope, an old friend who brought me out to Belgium on tour 7 years ago. Tomorrow, it’s off to Helsinki, Finland for 2 days and a show @ Tiger Bar, before my final European date Saturday in Oslo, Norway with the fine folks from Club Juicy @ BLA. Talk to you soon!
