Yup, you might’ve heard through the grapevine that the 2nd outing of Skratch Bastid Presents: Scratch, Skratch, Scratch! was a total smash. It went down last friday at the cusp of the Olympics opening ceremony and people came out in huge numbers to enjoy their evening with us. Thanks to Gman and Fortune Sound Club for hosting the event and also a special thanks to David Lang, Red Bull photographer-in-residence, for some awesome shots of the night you can peep below along with some footage of the show courtesy of Go Getters Entertainment. Stay tuned for more coming up soon!

Masta Ace is one of my favorite hip-hop artists of all time. The man has made so many classics, I couldn’t fit them in this post. He’s always touring hard and we caught up with him to discuss performing with Edo G as the group “A & E”, the importance of collaboration, and his take on “Scratch, Skratch, Scratch!”. Check it out on youtube by following this link HERE, or reading on below.

We also asked Ace what song he would like to see a group like us re-create, and so we did just that. Check it out!

Don’t forget, “SCRATCH, SKRATCH, SCRATCH!” hits VANCOUVER for our 2nd show ever on FRIDAY FEBRUARY 5th @ FORTUNE SOUND CLUB. Be there.

Last Thursday marked the first day of a big slew of dates I have as a headliner for the Canadian Red Bull 3-Style DJ event. From now until the country’s final on March 13th in Toronto, I’ll be traveling to 10 major cities across Canada, judging the competition and performing a set of seasoned skills for all of the party people.

Thre3Style is a DJ competition, but with an even focus on the club/mixing aspect of the game as well as the technical side. It’s still ’survival of the fittest’, but the ‘fittest’ may be more fit in different techniques than those that were featured in the DJ competitions I cut my teeth in. As the name suggests, it’s about combining many styles into one cohesive set, all while doing it with finesse and making it clear that you run this town tonight. DJ Flipout did that best on Thursday night in Vancouver and took home the big cheque. You can cheque out some footage from that set below, but first…

To help break the rules/judging criteria down for the competitors and fans, I filmed some short ‘episodes’ with Curtis Santiago (the host for the Canadian dates) where we discuss & demonstrate what it’s going to take to win.

Read on for 2 more and images/clips from DJ Flipout’s winning set…

I am pleased to announce our 2nd Scratch, Skratch, Scratch! show. On February 5th, Fortune Sound Club in Vancouver will experience the 3-man tour-de-force that took Toronto by storm last November. This club is the perfect place for us to showcase our set and I can’t wait to take the show out of town.

Here is Jason Lapeyre’s video piece from the Toronto show @ Revival:

Tonight I get to open for the excellent MC Gary Grice a/k/a The Genius a/k/a The GZA of the Wu-Tang Clan.

I was/still am a die-hard Wu-fanatic (check my old school agendas for lyric transcriptions) and I’m very excited to see what the god will perform. I like most of his catalog; obviously Liquid Swords is his best album (if not one of the best albums in hip-hop history), but I like lots of songs off of his Cold Chillin’ debut Words From The Genius and his LS follow-up Beneath The Surface.

Click the link below for some viewing to get you in the mood (not THAT mood, pervert). I’m on from 10-10:45 tonight.
